Key responsibilities:

• Manage and develop the Athens accounting team (entry and mid-level staff)
• Own the quality and timeliness of monthly management accounts, annual statutory financial statements (UK and US GAAP), VAT filings, and Greek statutory accounts
• Coordinate preparation of FCA regulatory reporting data, liaising with Optima (UK compliance provider) as needed
• Act as the primary Athens point of contact with London Finance, providing first-level review before submission for final sign-off
• Support the year-end audit process, coordinating audit support schedules across the full entity scope
• Hold (or work towards obtaining) the Greek accountant-tax-practitioner licence (άδεια λογιστή–φοροτεχνικού) required to sign off the Greek entity's own statutory bookkeeping and tax/VAT filings
• Build out team processes and controls as the Athens function matures to an independent operation

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree preferably in Accounting, Business Administration, or relevant field
• Fluent English — essential
• Qualified accountant, ideally with Big 4 audit background to Senior Manager level (or equivalent in-industry experience)
• Strong working knowledge of both UK and US GAAP preferred, will accept IFRS only
• Experience managing a team and reviewing the work of less experienced staff
• Prior exposure to alternative investment fund management, financial services, or a similarly regulated environment strongly preferred
• Greek accountant-tax-practitioner licence (or ability to obtain one)
• Comfortable operating within a review/sign-off hierarchy led by a remote UK-based Finance Director, rather than holding independent sign-off authority
