As a senior accounts payable your responsibilities will include:

• Team Leadership & Development: Lead, coach, and support the Athens-based AP team (entry and mid-level specialists), managing resource allocation and workload balance during peak periods.
• Control Environment Ownership: Safeguard and continuously enhance the end-to-end AP internal control framework, including approval hierarchies, strict vendor verification protocols, and balance reconciliations.
• Cross-Border Stakeholder Management: Serve as the primary Athens liaison for the London Finance team on operational AP workflows, payment schedules, cash-flow timing, and critical supplier matters.
• Continuous Improvement & Scalability: Optimize invoice-to-pay processes, drive automation/best practices, and ensure agreed service level agreements (SLAs) are maintained as the group’s entity footprint expands.
• Compliance & Audit Support: Coordinate the preparation and accuracy of AP schedules for quarterly VAT submissions and statutory audit requests for review by the London team.
• Operational Continuity: Step in to support critical payment workflows and cover key responsibilities during team absences or peak volume periods.

In order for your profile to match the senior accounts payable position, you need to have the following skills:

• Experience: 5+ years of dedicated Accounts Payable or Finance Operations experience, including at least 2 years in a team lead, supervisory, or people-management capacity.
• Industry Background: Prior experience in a regulated financial services firm or an international, multi-entity matrix structure is strongly preferred.
• Languages: Full professional proficiency in English (both written and spoken) is essential for seamless daily collaboration with UK stakeholders.
• Stakeholder Management: Exceptional interpersonal and cross-functional communication skills, with a proven track record of working effectively with remote international teams.
• Technical Acumen: Strong working knowledge of modern ERP platforms, internal controls, and standard accounting workflows.
