About the roleWe are looking for a talented Linux Senior Systems Administrator to join a leading financial services company based in Athens. In this role, you will be a key hands-on professional responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining hybrid infrastructure (on-prem & cloud), evaluating new technologies, and acting as an escalation point for complex incidents.

Additionally, this role offers a clear path and great potential for you to step up and take over the management of the IT team, guiding mid/junior systems engineers and driving key technical lifecycle decisions.

What you’ll be doing:

• Ensure the smooth operation, proactive monitoring (using Grafana & Nagios), and troubleshooting of the company’s infrastructure (physical/virtual servers, storage, networking).
• Evaluate, design, and implement new systems, services, and infrastructure upgrades, driving continuous improvement and automation (Ansible, Jenkins, Docker).
• Manage VMware 8 vSphere virtualization environments and handle Disaster Recovery strategies and execution (Veeam Backup).
• Perform regular security reviews, patching, vulnerability remediation, and firewall administration (Fortinet/Check Point), working alongside external security partners.
• Oversee Active Directory on-prem setup and Microsoft synchronization, as well as database integrity (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL).
• Act as an escalation point for complex production incidents, leading root-cause analysis and supporting user/IT support when needed during team absences.
• Maintain accurate technical documentation, manage SSL certificates, system contracts, vendor licenses, and support capacity planning.

What we’re looking for in a Senior System Administrator:

• University degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of solid experience in a Systems Administration or Infrastructure role.
• Strong expertise in Linux Operating Systems (CentOS, Ubuntu, Oracle Linux) and Web/Application Servers.
• Advanced hands-on experience with VMware Virtualization (vSphere, vCenter Server).
• Experience with Enterprise Backup Tools (Veeam) and Disaster Recovery planning.
• Experience with Microsoft technologies (Windows Server 2019/2022, Active Directory, Exchange Server).
• Familiarity with TCP/IP networking, routing, switching, and Firewall Administration (Fortinet / Check Point).
• Hands-on experience or strong interest in DevOps & Automation tools (Docker pipelines, Jenkins, Ansible) and Monitoring tools (Grafana, Nagios).
• Familiarity with SAN Storage Administration, Shell Scripting, and basic Avaya Call Center administration is desirable.
• Great communication and soft skills
• Fulfilled military obligations, where applicable.

5+ years of solid experience in a Systems Administration or Infrastructure role.
