 As a Production Planner you will be responsible for production and/or raw material scheduling in order to satisfy customer demand.

As a Production Planner, your responsibilities include:

  • If production planning, schedule finished material and intermediate production to maintain inventory levels and satisfy customer demand.  Successfully schedule production and materials to meet delivery and inventory goals.
  • If production planning, produce a daily production schedule. Obtain input from Production Supervisor, and others as needed.
  • Check all finished goods to maintain appropriate amount on hand.
  • Drive and coordinate product expediting as needed, including revision of production schedule, producing order status report for customer service, and determining packaging requirements to meet customer demands.
  • Use SAP to aid and develop schedules.
  • If planning raw materials, be responsible for ensuring on time delivery to preclude and prevent production interruptions.
  • Contact vendors (through Procurement) when problems occur Contact carriers when problems occur
  • Review demand for raw material requirements to maintain appropriate amount on hand.
  • Maintain and revise the production schedule on a daily basis.  Do the same with raw material planning.
  • Monitor rework inventory to ensure it is used when possible.
  • Work closely with other departments to maintain a good working relationship to ensure a smooth flow of information scheduling and production functions.
  • Generate various reports associated with the various material types to provide information and feedback to Customer Service and others as required.
  • Work on Special Projects on an as needed basis as assigned by manager.


The position of Production Planner is just the right one for you if you possess the following skills:

  • Minimum 3 years of prior planning experience or the equivalent required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management or related field preferred
  • APICS certification or working toward certification. Supply Chain Academy course completion is equivalent
  • Good written and verbal communications skills.
  • Good mathematics and analytical skills
  • Good decision-making skills with limited information and under duress
  • Good forecasting and anticipatory skills
  • Experience with SAP planning and inventory modules
