The Medical Advisor Ophthalmology  we are looking for will contribute to the development of the Medical Strategy to efficiently support the brand’s strategies and business objectives, provide accurate, in-depth medical guidance and governance for the products/therapeutic areas of responsibility as well as ensure successful new product launch and proper product life cycle management. 

Key Accountabilities

  • Act as integral part of the multidisciplinary brand team of Ophthalmology and execute the medical component of the respective Brand Strategies helping guide the Ophthalmology medical strategic direction, under the guidance and leadership of the Medical Director.
  • Plan, develop and implement – under the leadership of Medical Director - the agreed medical activities for Ophthalmology including Scientific Events, Investigator Sponsored Studies (ISS), Patient Support and Disease Management Programs (PSDMP), Observational Studies (OS) and Interventional Studies as Medical Expert.
  • Engage with Thought Leaders/ HCPs and develop trusted partnership via face to face communication, scientific events etc.
  • Handle medical questions concerning Ophthalmology products by providing to HCPs, customers and patients accurate information based on relevant documentation.
  • Contribute to the scientific content of the promotional materials in alignment with code of ethics, QSDs, global and local legislation. Review and approve the promotional material via Content Factory (transcreation: translation & adaptation in line with EOF code).
  • Design and deliver all kinds of internal scientific training for all medical personnel, non-medical personnel (commercial, market access, regulatory etc.), as well as external partners (vendors, distributors, co-promotion partners etc.) respectively, and own responsibility for the certification process of the sales force.
  • Manage the budget planning for medical activities and monitor spend against budget, in close collaboration with the Medical Director.


 The ideal candidate for the position will be expected to have the following:

  • Medical degree from a reputable University (strong preference) or Degree in Life Sciences from a reputable University with at least 3 years proven experience in a Medical or R&D position.
  • Master’s Degree in Life Sciences, Business Administration (MBA), Economics or any other relevant field will be considered an asset.
  • At least 3 years of experience in contributing to brand success through the provision of medical input and the cultivation of great synergies with key stakeholders from a multinational pharmaceutical company will be considered an asset.
  • At least 1 year of Clinical research and trial management experience and being able to interact reliably with key stakeholders and investigators will be considered an asset.
  • Excellent presentation and teaching skills and being able to represent the company in a professional manner at medical, scientific and public events.
  • Excellent communication (orally and in writing), negotiation and influencing skills with a variety of internal and external stakeholders. Can get ideas across in one-on-one, group settings as well as in presentations.
  • Resource management and financial skills to monitor budgets.
  • Adequate digital/IT skills (as an end user) – Ability to quickly adopt new technologies.
  • Fluency in Greek and English (both in written & verbal).
  • Travelling required.
