Do you have experience in finance reporting? Would you like to evolve your career further and in a junior finance manager role?

We are seeking to enhance the existing management team of our client, a company in the tourism sector, with the appointment of an experienced professional in Junior Finance Manager.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing accounting systems, assist with formulating annual business plans, managing finances on a day to day basis, and the monthly reporting cycle. In the beginning the position will be very hands on, and the Junior Finance Manager will be expected to take responsibility for the accounting function. As the business grows and all operations are active, the role will develop and expand to assume greater responsibility. It is expected that the role will in time develop into a Finance Management role with a small finance team and dedicated administrative support. This is an exciting opportunity for someone to build an excellent management system from the ground up.

The Junior Finance Manager will report directly to the General Manager and will initially work alongside the external consultant accountant during a transition handover period.

responsibilities

Among your duties as a junior finance manager in this company will be:

Implement, manage, maintain and improve all financial systems and related controls.
Management and approval of accounting records and reporting:

  • Manage & prepare accounting records, management accounts, annual accounts and flash reports.
  • Ensure accurate and timeous financial reporting.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly Management reports.
  • Prepare and monitor trading budgets and cash flows.

Preparation and management of budgets

  • Support the general manager in preparing budgets that accurately reflect planned activities.
  •  Ensure that budgets are adhered to.

Data Analysis

  • Undertake detailed financial analytical analysis and prepare ad hoc reports.
  • Review balance sheets and control accounts (journals and intergroup transactions).
  • Check for errors and take corrective action to ensure accurate financial reporting.

Salaries and Wages Payroll

  • Timeous and accurate payment of staff salaries and wages and statutory payments.

Purchasing

  • Analytically assess the total costs of purchases to help improve margins across the business.
  • Developing effective and efficient procurement processes for key suppliers which support business objectives.

Audit Requirements

  • Ensure that financial accounts meet audit requirements.
  • Ensure that financial results (statement of comprehensive income, financial position and cash flow statements) are produced.

Fixed Asset Register and Tax Asset Register

  • Verify accuracy of fixed asset register and tax asset register.
  • Check additions and write-offs in company asset register.

Ensure compliance with laws relating to financial and corporate governance matters

  • Ensure compliance with current tax laws.
  • Support the general manager to ensure compliance with corporate governance laws.

requirements

To be an ideal candidate for the junior finance manager position, you should have:

  • Degree in finance or accounting 
  • A professional qualification such as ACCA/CFA/CPA will be considered as plus
  • Holder of A' class signatory right is mandatory.
  • Analytical ability & high level of numeracy.
  • Strong commercial skills and confident in negotiating with suppliers / conducting tenders.
  • Be self-motivated and practical, with a `can-do` attitude.
  • Prepared to be hands-on.
  • At least 5 years post articles experience. Preferably experience in one of the top audit firms.
  • Working knowledge of all Greek statutory legislation and regulations.
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
  • Be able to work under pressure and honor deadlines.
  • Excellent IT Skills including Excel
  • Fluent Greek and English.
  • Proficient user of finance software packages. Working knowledge of Singular Logic Control will be an asset.
  • Proven experience in the financial management of multi business unit organization
  • Knowledge and experience of applying and interpreting International Financial Reporting Standards.
  • Experience of the hospitality sector is beneficial but not essential.
  • Effective management of a small finance team.
  • Proactive with great interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with team members and stakeholders at all levels
