We are seeking for a Control Systems Engineer for one of the most established companies globally, located in Cornwall (UK).

As an Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for the development, maintenance (preventive and corrective) and troubleshooting of the PLC and SCADA systems for all the plants worldwide as well as leading the design improvements on the programme.

  • Development of PLC software for the Allen Bradley Controllogix platforms
  • Possess strong knowledge of Rockwell Automation Studio 5000 Professional and programming software
  • Development, maintenance and improvement of PC based SCADA and AB HMI applications using FactoryTalk View Studio
  • Development of Ethernet/IP distributed I/O applications with AB Point I/O and Flex I/O
  • Development of networked control schemes using fieldbus comms including Devicenet and Profibus for interfacing with instrumentation, valves and motor starters
  • Development and application of control strategies utilizing automation and distributed platforms across sites to include statistical design elements, tuning and smart sensor usage
  • Start-up and commissioning support of Control and Automation System 

Remote implementation support to plants worldwide, to include strategies for implementing, supporting specific issues where expert knowledge is required, acting as operator technical support when required

Location: Position is based in Cornwall (UK) but with a significant amount of travels (circa 50%) worldwide. Occasionally some long hour shifts, working at night and weekends will be required

  • Degree in Engineering
  • 5-10 years experience in industrial environment
  • Fluent English
  • Problem solving and diagnostic skills
  • Professionalism, high level of commitment and customer orientation
  • Ability to work in diverse cultures
  • Good communication skills
  • Experience in 3 phase motors, 480v systems, VF Drives, AB and ABB drives, servos, networks, Profibus, digital communication and Ethernet systems would be an asset
  • Experience in Paper manufacturing, Mineral Processing or Chemical Industry would be an asset
