The European Asylum Support Office (EASO) is currently seeking Case Worker to start work in Greek Islands.

responsibilities

As a Case Worker in this role, your main responsibilities will be the following: 

  • Interviewing applicants for international protection
  • Preparing opinions on admissibility of applications for international protection 
  • Preparing opinions on the merits of applications for international protection
  • Ability to work as a member of an international team of experts on the processing of applications for international protection, following the relevant detailed Standards Operating Procedures and EU asylum acquis
  • Ability to conduct interviews with third country nationals seeking international protection in English
  • Ability to draft opinions on international protection in English
  • Ability to be deployed in a Greek hotspot (Lesvos, Chios, Samos, Leros, Kos or other areas around Greece where asylum applicants are processed), flexibility to be moved from one location to another during employment; working with supervision, delivering the required workload on a daily basis and with strict deadlines (possibility of extended working hours)

requirements

The position of Case Worker is just the right one for you if you possess the following skills: 

  • University graduate; preferably in law studies; Humanitarian/ Political/ Social Sciences desirable; secondary degree required
  • Ability to attend the mandatory training provided by EASO and the Asylum Service, including e-learning platform and face to face trainings that will be held in Athens as well as after being deployed on the Greek islands
  • Flexibility to relocate on a frequent basis
  • English Europass CV is mandatory
  • Computer literacy, including MS Office applications (Word, Excel), use of internet and web based applications
  • Fluent in English and Greek - drafting and speaking in English
