The annual HR Trends Survey conducted by Randstad in 2017 had the largest participation of companies since it was first launched six years ago. In particular, from December 2016 to March 2017, Randstad's Consultants held 460 face to face interviews with executives and decision makers from the Greek business community.

The purpose of the survey is to capture human capital trends and strategies in Greece as well as salaries by job profile. The report identified that 70% of the 460 companies that participated, anticipate to hire permanent employees for their businesses in 2017 and their primary concern being adequate response to their need for new skills.

The primary reason for new hires is national or international expansion and the launch of new products or segments.

As Yiannis Gimousis, Randstad Regional Manager - Staffing, highlights, "The labor market is actually showing signs of improvement. However, important challenges remain. Companies that are adapting to new situation and are investing in training their employees, deserve congratulations".

The report also indicated that 37% of the participant companies intend to raise salaries in 2017.

Optimism was also observed with only 6% of respondents estimating that their sales volume will decrease within the year, while the majority stated that it will remain stable.

Ms. Leda Sgouraki, Randstad Regional Manager - Professionals, points out: 'In the first six months of 2017, we see particular mobility in terms of demand for sales & marketing and IT positions. In spite of the general picture of the market, the Randstad team has seen a significant increase in filled job positions compared to the first half of 2016. These results allows us to look ahead with optimism'.

With regard to the HR challenges for all the participating companies, it appears that the main three challenges are:

-the increasement of productivity and performance
-the talent attraction for the next phase of development
-the creation of a pleasant work environment
All the above and the creation of a strong employer brand, seem to be key for successful talent attractions in HR.

Leigh Ostergard, Managing Director Greece & Turkey at Randstad, mentioned, "Compared to last year, more companies seem to understand the importance of Employer Branding to successfully recruit top talent. Building a strong employer brand might be an important trend in the next years".

Moreover, the 2017 Randstad report presents the salary ranges for the main job profiles in the Sales & Marketing, Finance & Accounting, Technology, Engineering, Business support, Pharma, Legal, and Customer services sectors. Below, you can see some examples of the recorded salaries range.

* Please note that the above wages are determined by the size of each company, the responsibilities that each job requires, the years of work experience, the academic background, the skills and everything else required by the company.
