Recruitment & Resourcing must be at the heart of any talent management strategy in organizations whose priority is to build a workforce capable of sustaining a competitive advantage in today’s market.
What we see at Randstad is that companies now seek to find people who have similar working experience, company size & culture than we had seen before. One thing companies no longer have is time. Thus, they seek for candidates that will be immediately productive for their organization. This means that in order to be successful, recruiting has to be much more specialized. Candidate supply in the market has grown. On the other hand, demand has become much more focused, restricted & specialized. This, coupled with talent & skill shortage, has ultimately led to longer resourcing & recruitment cycles.
The employment market on a global level has changed dramatically, we see huge relation between demand and supply across countries. Sourcing for some countries becomes harder and harder, since the local market anticipates talent shortages, leading more and more for HR & recruiters to source candidates outside their home country’s borders.
Although we may not be able to change the market trends per se, we as HR & recruiters can ensure that we are constantly up to date with our market & area of expertise. Resourcing is one such mean. Actually, resourcing is the key to any successful recruitment campaign. Even if there are no actual needs within an organization, sourcing is an ongoing, long-term strategy that is adopted by many successful recruiters around the globe and it is also adopted by Randstad.
Nowadays, candidate resourcing means tapping into unknown sources of candidates rather than simply publishing an advert. It means locating talent, which in most cases are (“passive”* ) candidates that are not actively seeking for employment, therefore not possible to be found via ads. It means being proactive regardless of whether there is an opening in the organization. It means building your company’s candidate database with niche candidates.
Despite the recent changes in the employment market, companies are still recruiting for their organizations. In most cases recruitment is about restructuring that takes place within organizations. Randstad has handled successfully several similar cases within the last two years – where strict confidentiality, excellent sourcing & recruiting skills are required.
